Food and Nutrition

We are proud of our high quality meals here at The Gables, with a dedicated chef ensures each meal is carefully designed to be enjoyable for each service user. Balanced nutrition is provided to our service users, with multiple choice for individual desires and needs.

Menus are regularly rotated in order to ensure residents ‘likes and dislikes’ are met, ensuring those that require specialised diets are being met. We have a clear and colourful menu, clearly showing what is on offer for that specific day. Making it an enjoyable and welcoming when service users are required to choose their meal.

Dementia friendly activities
Our objective is to ensure comfort and happiness is obtained for all service users, and this can be achieved with dementia friendly activities. With an in-depth understanding and knowledge of everyone’s life history, allows us to create friendly activities for all to participate within. Each day we have a different activity, ranging from trips and events to in house bingo and karaoke.

The trips and events are tailored by the likes and dislikes of everyone, as well as a trip they may like to try out, ensuring every day at The Gables is different. We also take pleasure in welcoming visiting entertainers, schools, the local church, and many others to our local home to spend time with our residents.

Our Staff

The Gables Care Home aims to provide its Service Users in a secure, relaxed, and homely environment in which their care, wellbeing and comfort are of prime importance. Support Workers will strive to preserve and maintain the dignity, individuality, and privacy of all Service Users within a warm and caring atmosphere, and in so doing will be sensitive to the Service Users ever-changing needs. All Care Staff within the Home are appropriately qualified to deliver the highest standards of care. A continuous staff-training programme is implemented to ensure that these high standards are maintained in line with the latest developments in Care Practices as may be laid down in appropriate Legislation, Regulations and the National Care Standards Commission.

The Welsh Language

There is an ongoing assessment in respect of how language needs will continue to be met and Welsh speaking staff will be wearing badges to identify their ability to converse in Welsh.  This will also be achieved through programmes of activities designed to encourage mental alertness, self-esteem, social interaction with other Service Users and with recognition of the following core values of care which are fundamental to the philosophy of our Home.
